Kale and CILT-India join hands to set up Centre of Excellence for IT in Logistics

CoE will strive to promote excellence in IT for the Indian Logistics Industry

Mumbai,June 3, 2010: Kale Consultants Limited, a leading technology solutions provider to Airline, Airports, Logistics and Travel (AALT) industry, today announced the setting up of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) along with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-India), a leading global professional body associated with logistics and transport. The CoE is a joint initiative between Kale and CILT-India with specific focus on promoting excellence in establishing, nurturing and growing the use of IT in the Indian Logistics Industry.

The increasingly complex logistics business is setting the stage for innovative solutions through effective and efficient adoption and utilization of information technology. To encourage this paradigm shift, the CoE aims to create platforms for greater adoption of IT in Indian logistics industry by recognizing and rewarding innovation, developing intellectual property for dissemination to the industry, acting as a forum for all-round development of IT practices, and creating forums for discussion and debate on the IT practices within the industry.

Mr. Sanjiv Garg, Divisional Railway Manager, East Coast Railway & Secretary General, CILT-India said “We are pleased to be part of this initiative with Kale. I am sure the CoE will benefit the Indian Logistics and Transportation industry to promote excellence by acting as a forum for all-round development of IT practices.”

CoE will strive to promote excellence in IT for the Indian Logistics Industry and will undertake initiatives to promote knowledge and skill set for adoption of IT, enable joint research work with the academicia and provide IT consultancy for the SME players.

The CoE governing board consists of leading Indian Logistics industry professionals, including Mr. L R Sridhar, Managing Director, Sical Logistics Ltd., Mr. Snehal Parikh, Managing Director, Lemuir Group and Mr. Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Managing Director, A.T.C (Clearing and Shipping) Pvt. Ltd. amongst others.
